While Nissan may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of pickup trucks, that’s all about to change. Enter the Nissan Titan and Titan XD: two impressive pickups with the power, style, and towing capability to leave other trucks in the dust. Forget about those other manufacturers and learn more with Go Nissan about how these two Titans are alike, and how they differ.
The Nissan Titan
Being named J.D. Power’s Best Large Light Duty Pickup of 2019 is no small feat—but then again, the 2019 Nissan is no small truck. From the Utili-track® Channel System to its spray-on bed liner, the Titan packs a ton of job-site capability. Speaking of tonnes, the Titan’s payload of 1,930 lbs (nearly a metric tonne) and towing capacity of 9,200 lbs all comes from the 4-cylinder, 5.6-litre Endurance® V8 engine that brings 390 horses to the party. A similarly priced F-150 giving you 290 horsepower; prompting us to ask, “Ford who?”
The Nissan Titan XD
Not to be outdone, the Nissan Titan XD brings a little “extra” to this tough-as-nails truck. Whether you choose the 5.6-litre Endurance® V8 mentioned above, or the Cummins® 5.0-litre Turbo Diesel V8, you’ll have enough torque to tow whatever your heart desires—555 lb-ft of torque to be exact! Beyond raw power, the Titan XD offers Nissan’s fully boxed high-strength steel ladder frame, commercial-grade rear differential, 14” brakes, and one of the best suspension systems on the market.
Which one is right for you?
The Titan and Titan XD are both highly impressive trucks, capable of turning heads and towing heady loads. Combine their potent performance with the smart design Nissan’s known for, and you’ve got a pair of trucks that can compete with—and beat—any other truck on the market. It’s not an easy choice, but the two Titans do differ slightly, with one being better equipped for your needs. With a lower starting price and smaller size, the Titan offers a bit more in the way of fuel economy, as well as being a smaller investment and easier to drive. However, if you regularly find yourself on the highway with a boat or trailer in tow, the Titan XD with its Cummins® Turbo Diesel might be the right choice. Both trucks offer similar styling, including similar Nissan innovations. From in-bed ultra-bright LED lights and 110-volt outlet, to the handy Utili-track® Channel System, both of these pickups offer the types of revolutionary features you’ll find in a Nissan—and nothing else!
